Pianist Signs Her New Book

From the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival

Deborah Rambo Sinn, pianist and Founder/Director of the Olympic Music School in Sequim is returning for a visit to Orcas Island. As a 2012 Musician-in-Residence for the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival she coached young pianists, community musicians, and performed in a Salon Concert Her current Orcas visit allows her to discuss her recent book on music interpretation titled Playing Beyond the Notes, published by Oxford University Press. Deborah will be at Darvill’s Bookstore in Eastsound on Wednesday evening, May 29th 7PM, for a book signing and conversation event.

Dr. Sinn has given concerts and master classes on four continents and taught students from more than 14 countries. She holds a Doctorate and a Master’s degree from Indiana University where she studied with Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio) and James Tocco. Sinn is a nationally certified teacher of music through Music Teachers National Association.

During the week of her Orcas visit Deborah will accompany violinist Monique Mead in a June 2nd Salon Concert. The musical and teaching collaboration on Orcas Island of these two talented artists offers a rare opportunity for island residents to learn and listen, both!
