Be a part of something wild! The historical Seattle icon, TheatresportsTM, is coming to Orcas.

Orcas Center is offering an energetic and fun workshop in Improv Theatre Sports with Randy Dixon from Unexpected Productions and his troupe of theatre improvisers from all over the world. The workshop is Wednesday, June 27 from 7 to 9:30 pm. Participants from the workshop will be on a team to compete in an evening of Theatre Sports for the public on Center Stage on Saturday, June 30 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $8.

Randy Dixon describes Orcas Theatre Sports like this: “Two teams battle it out in the #1 comedy improv showdown scored by a panel of judges. The high-energy, fast-paced show is theater, sports, comedy and competition and improv theatre all rolled into one amazing show!”

TheatresportsTM is fully improvised: all is made up on the spot, using suggestions from the audience as a jumping-off point. Focus is on story, narrative, technical game-playing, and comedy. The challenge is to use the suggestion in a creative and intelligent manner..
The workshop is for ages 14 and adults of any improv ability. If you love improv and want to experience learning and performing with professional improvisers, this is your big opportunity! Tuition is $10.

TheatresportsTM Seattle was conceived in Seattle, was the first of its kind in the USA, and is dedicated to promoting the art and spirit of improvisation. It’s been going strong since it was founded in 1983, is Seattle’s longest running show, and will turn 30 years old in June 2013!  Unexpected Productions has performed in Austria, Amsterdam, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Slovenia, New Zealand, and Australia, as well as all over the United States and Canada
