Fall Festival at Camp Orkila: Grab a hot dog, press some cider, climb the rock wall, aim for the archery target, get your face painted,  and, at 6 p.m., hop aboard a family fun Hay Ride  Also: Zip line! Foor 3rd graders and up, 285 lb weight limit. Must call camp at 360.376.2678 to sign-up for a time assignment. Haunted Hayride for older kids 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. every 20 minutes. All activities are free

Pumpkin Fest in downtown Eastsound with events from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pumpkin bowling and face painting at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, pumpkin carving at the new Sunflour Bakery on Main Street, Storytelling at Darvill’s Bookstore.

The Fall Healing Arts Fair at the Healing Arts Center on North Beach Road in Eastsound  Saturday and Sunday, October 29–30. This fundraiser, offered twice a year, lets people try out the practitioners’ services at a greatly discounted rate. Acupuncture and several types of massage are very popular.The rate is $45/hour, and some services are offered by the half-hour at $25. Sessions fill up early, so call the Healing Arts Certer at 376-4002, or stop by 453 North Beach Road between 9 and 3, Monday through Saturday, and reserve an appointment or two.

Farmer’s Market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall

Town Hall with State Representative Kris Lytton  from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall.

Occupy Eastsound at the Village Green,  4 p.m. in front of the Stage, for updates and a walking demonstration in support of the larger movement.  Also, from 4-6pm indoors (TBD), for a World Cafe style of group planning on issues and events locally. “Hunting Technologies of the last 12,000 Years.” Lecture on prehistoric hunting techniques sponsored by the Orcas Island Historical Society from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. Admission is by donation at the door. For further information, call 376-4849.

Carol Gill Memorial Service in Orcas Island High School gym at 5 p.m., to be followed by a reception at the Senior Center.

Crossroads Lecture with Steve Olson “Early Humans and You: Discovering the Past through our Genes.” 7:30 p.m. at the Orcas Center in Eastsound. The purchase of tickets, available at the Orcas Island Library, Darvill’s Bookstore, or online at www.orcascrossroads.org, helps to fund the series. Remaining tickets, if available, can be obtained at the door. Complimentary tickets are also available in advance at the Library and the Senior Center.

Don Giovanni, Live at the Met in HD,  at the Orcas Center at 1 p.m. hosted by Renée Fleming. The HD opera perfomance’s running time is approximately 3 hours and 27 minutes, including one intermission. Tickets for Don Giovanni are $15 for adults and $11 for students. $2 off for Orcas Center members and may be purchased at www.orcascenter.org or by calling  376-2281 ext 1 or visiting the Orcas Center Box Office open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon- 4 pm.

Lutheran Congregation “Meet and Greet” with Anne Hall at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. All are welcome to meet potential Lutheran minister for the Orcas, Lopez, and San Juan Island congregations.

Day of the Dead at Darvill’s, stories, crafts and treats with Lynn Howe. 3 p.m.

Pawki’s annual HOWL-O-WEEN!  from 1 to 5 p.m. Bring in your pet to trick or treat for a goodie and a free photo in our (not so) scary photo booth! New this year is our Pet Costume Contest! We’ll be awarding $20 Pawki’s gift certificates for the Best Homemade Costume, Best Group and Best Pet and Handler! 1 pm-5 pm at 199 Main Street, Eastsound.

Trick or Treat at Downtown Eastsound Businesses – 3 pm to 5 pm:  Presented by your Eastsound Merchants and the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce. Includes Islanders Bank off Prune Alley, and KT Chocolates in Eastsound Square, Celtic Beauty across from Ace Hardware, and San Juan Insurance and Dr. Chris White’s office at the Airport Center.

Trick-or-Treat for Books at the Orcas Island Public Library3 pm to 5 pm: Come in and pick out a book and have your picture taken!

Trick-or-Treat at the Orcas Island Hysterical Museum – 3 pm to 5 pm: Learn the true Orcas Island scary story about Mrs Rice & Higgy the Bear and enjoy some special treats!

”Young Frankenstein” free movie screens at the Odd Fellows on Haven Road at 7 pm. Come in costume!

Odd Fellows Dance at 8:30 pm which will include live band and DJ’s. Costume prizes will be awarded at 10 pm.  $10 for adults & $5 for kids.
