Pumpkins transformed into Jack-o-Lanterns, one of the signs that Halloween is coming!

Saturday, Oct. 29 thru Monday, Oct. 31 in Eastsound

The business community of Downtown Eastsound, the classically quaint ‘hub’ of Orcas Island, proudly presents a Halloween Weekend for the whole family!

Set in the beautiful waterfront setting of Eastsound Village, the event is designed to offer fun and activities appealing to young and old; residents and visitors alike!  Eastsound Village has long been the perfect setting for a safe and intimate ‘Trick-Or-Treat’… with businesses within the easily ‘walkable’ village welcoming costumed kids and families for years.

This year, the old-fashioned fun expands to bring a host of fun offerings during the heart of the holiday weekend!A group of active Eastsound business owners has organized the events to attract folks to Orcas Island. “The Gem of the San Juans’… for the crisp weekend wrapping up the October season.

The free Halloween fun for the whole family begins Saturday, Oct 29 at the Episcopal Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a Costume Contest! with prizes for three age categories: up to 8, 9 to 18, and Family. Activities include:

  • Pumpkin Bowling
  • Scarecrow Making — a judged competition with prizes.
  • Face painting
  • Balloon Twisting
  • Fun food and treats available too!

Then, across Main Street at the Wildflower Bakery Garden from 2 to 4 p.m. a Pumpkin Carving Contest will take place with everything provided… including cookies! Prizes in three age categories: 4 to 8, 9 to 16, 17 & up

Storytelling Hour at Darvill’s Bookstore follows, from 4 to 5p.m.  — of course with cookies too!

On Monday, Oct. 31, Downtown Eastsound will again be the scene, from 3 to 5 p.m. for Trick or Treat! Because that’s the day you celebrate that you can never have ‘Too Much Candy’!
