Sunday, Oct. 15 from 11:30 am — 12:30 p.m. at the Community Church

Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast on Friday, August 25. Damage from the storm and subsequent flooding is widespread. It will take months, and in some cases years, for Houston and the surrounding areas to recover and rebuild.

Orcas Island Community Church is sending a team to Texas to help with the cleanup efforts. The team will leave on Saturday, October 21 and return on Saturday, October 28. We are partnering with Attack Poverty, a non-profit organization based out of Houston, whose mission is to strengthen under-resourced communities through spiritual growth, education, revitalization and basic needs. In doing so, they are helping to break the cycle of generational poverty in that area.

There will be a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at the Community Church this Sunday from 11:30 am — 12:30 pm. The public is invited to attend.

The team from OICC who is going to Texas includes Stan Armstrong, Rick Boucher, Nathan Carter, Darin Densmore, Mike Macksey, Brian Moss, and Julie Remington.
