A Lopez Island Deputy was called regarding an attempted fraud involving a realistic looking letter purportedly from national sweepstakes company awarding a big prize. The intended victim balked when asked to pay nearly $3000 up front. A report was taken.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of fraud in Friday Harbor regarding a phone call stating the victim having warrants. The investigation is ongoing.

21-001610 Vicious Animal 15:56:28 02/24/21
Lopez Island Deputies assisted with retrieving a dog that was believed to be injured and trapped on a Lopez Island beach. A kayaker called 911 after seeing the dog. It was determined the dog had been missing for over five days. The tired dog and the happy family were reunited. A report was completed.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a theft. The theft was reported two months after occurring and there is no suspect information. The incident was documented.

Orcas Island Deputies were dispatched with Orcas Island Fire & Rescue to a structure fire in the Deer Harbor area. A report was taken.

A Deputy responded to a vehicle prowl. Items were taken from an unlocked vehicle. No suspects or workable leads at this time.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called to investigate the burglary of a business that occurred during the night. An initial report was taken and the investigation is continuing.

A set of keys, including electronic car fobs were found and turned in at the Lopez Sheriff Substation.

A Deputy was contacted in reference to Lost Property in the Friday Harbor area. The person advised that they lost a backpack containing multiple items. They remember last having the item in a local business. informational report taken.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Citizen Dispute in the San Juan Island area. The Deputy contacted the person who had called. They requested a Trespass Warning for another person. The warning was completed and served. Report taken.

A Lopez Deputy was called out for a residential alarm. Upon arrival nothing suspicious was noted.

A Deputy took a report of a civil matter. The issue was documented for the parties.

A Deputy on San Juan responded to a report of suspicious activity. Upon investigation no crimes were located, and the incident was documented.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to assist Orcas Fire and Rescue personnel on a CPR in-progress call. The patient was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Juan County Coroner was contacted.

A Lopez Island Deputy took a report of the unlawful removal of parts of a large marine mammal that had washed ashore on a remote private beach.
