— from Brendan Cowan, Director, San Juan County Department of Emergency Management —
More than 1,300 islanders participated in last week’s ShakeOut earthquake exercise — the most ever. That includes school districts, government departments, businesses, non-profits, families, and individuals.
The middle school students from the Shaw Island School won a statewide earthquake preparedness video contest. So inspiring the way their entire school community has embraced emergency preparedness.
Thanks to everyone who signed up and spent a few minutes thinking about getting ready for the inevitable quake.
