||| FROM BRENDAN COWAN for DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT |||
Emergency repairs to Pt. Lawrence Road have been completed and the road will be open to traffic beginning at noon on Tuesday, November 23.
The road is only one lane. Caution must be used, and cars traveling westbound (towards town) need to yield to eastbound traffic. Please drive slowly over the repaired section, follow all signage, and carefully watch for oncoming traffic.
This project was only possible through the tremendous effort of both County Public Works and local contractor teams, and the support and cooperation of the greater Orcas community and Doe Bay Resort. Thanks so much to all who pitched in to get to this point.

Anybody know the culvert configuration? Like dimensions length and how many?
We certainly know who WE will be thinking of this Thanksgiving Day! Thanks to all the road builders, who literally worked nights and weekends to make this amazingly rapid fix happen. Thanks to Doe Bay for allowing all those cars in their parking lots and Fedex packages in their office. Thanks to the UPS folks who piled packages on carts and trotted them across the magnificent new footbridge to people waiting up on the road. Thanks to the post office folks who brought out a truck carrying not only mail, but coffee and cookies! This is the way people should treat each other, with concern, warmth, and smiles. Love really is the answer!
I echo Susan’s comments!
Bravo to all who came together to help out!
I am impressed by the speed of the emergency road repairs!
And thank you Susan for expressing everything I’ve felt during this past week . I feel so much gratitude for the community’s ability to come together for the common good for all. It’s a blessing living here.
