An NPR headline:
Juan Romero, Busboy Who Cradled Dying RFK,
Dies At 68
-- by Laurel Rust --
Juan Romero was a 17 year old
immigrant from Mexico
when RFK was shot as he paused
in the kitchen to shake hands
with Romero. Romero
had a rosary in his pocket.
He wrapped it around Kennedy's
right hand. None of us
alive then
will ever forget that photograph,
two uncomprehending faces.
Romero said in a recent interview
It has been a long fifty years.
In 2010 Romero for the first time
visited Kennedy's grave
in Arlington National Cemetery:
I felt like I needed to ask Kennedy
to forgive me for not being able
to stop those bullets from harming him.
For this visit, Romero
bought the first suit
he had ever owned in his life.
