— from Pierrette Guimond —
Books are my best friends. As an avid reader most of my life, I had always bought my books before moving to Orcas Island 25 years ago. I had never used libraries before moving here, but living in a small community and looking at local interaction, I opened the door to a new experience by getting my library card and becoming an active library user.
Since then, I have served as a Library Board Trustee, joined the Friends of the Library where I served as president for a few years, took care of the grounds as a volunteer for 10 years.
I still love walking into the library and finding new books. And I have watched so many people walk through the library doors and have a similar experience.
So now we are looking at the next twenty-five years and beyond. The Community must support the Library; if we do, it will continue to serve us well into the future.
Please vote yes for the levy lid lift.

As another former Library Board Trustee, I also encourage you to vote for the levy lid lift.
In the article on BCC ” The secret libraries of history”
Syria’s secret library beneath the streets of Damascus many
view it as a vital resource. “In a sense the library gave me back my life,” one regular user told the BBC,
” I would say that just like the body needs food,
the soul needs books.”
As another former Library Board Trustee, I also urge you to vote FOR the levy lid lift.
