||| FROM JESSIE DOUGLAS-SEITZ, PROJECT MANAGER |||
- Construction activities are scheduled to begin Monday, March 14, 2022.
- Traffic Control onsite includes NO PARKING within project limits. This includes Prune Alley, and portions of Fern Street, A Street, and Rose Street. It is essential that areas designated as no parking are unoccupied to allow for planned construction activities including:
- Mobilization of equipment and materials
- Construction Surveying
- Pavement Grinding
- Please respect temporary traffic control measures, the construction zone speed limit, and directions by our contractor and flagging crew.

At least they didn’t wait until July…
I am just going to leave two quotes to ponder as Prune Alley looses it’s proper designation.
“Give me a land of boughs in leaf,
a land of trees that stand;
where tree are fallen, there is grief;
I love no leafless land.
A.E. Houseman
“Ill fares the land, to hast’ning ills a prey,
Where wealth accumulates , and men decay.
Oliver Goldsmith , The Deserted Village
Oh Milly, the whole of Eastsound lost that designation long ago….
Ken, they are starting now, but the project won’t be done until at least August.
When I was a kid (oh, many long years ago!) we used to joke that there were 4 seasons in the West; Fall, Winter, Spring and Road Construction.
I hope they will spare the trees that made this street “Prune Alley.”
Michael and all, last I heard they are indeed planning to keep the Italian Prune trees. : )
Thanks, Lerner. That’s a big relief.
