As the summer solstice fast approaches, it’s time to get your tickets for Martin Lund’s One World Music Festival.
Martin Lund has fostered the love of music on Orcas Island for the past 15+ years and he’s just getting started. The One World Music Festival has come to be a significant event in our community. Lund has brought top-notch talent to the community each year where he always provides a diverse lineup, featuring up-and-coming acts as well as music legends, from both Northwest and beyond.
From the success of these shows over the years, Lund realizes that he has a passion for Jazz music and has a dream to create a jazz festival on Orcas Island. This year’s One World Music festival concert will be for jazz lovers and Lund will present his favorite jazz music from all different cultures and styles with a jazz festival feel.
The all star line up of musicians for this year’s show features Gail Pettis, 3 time earshot jazz best vocalist in the Northwest. Her vocals are described by Jazz Times…(she has) “a retro air that hints at the silken sophistication and storytelling of a young Nancy Wilson.(gailpettis.com)
Joining her are some of Seattle’s finest: Darin Clendenin (pianist); Paul Gabrielson (bass); Jon Goforth(sax); Ben Thomas(percussion); along with local greats, Willie Thomas, Charlie Porter, Oliver Groenewald, Gene Nery & Tony Morales. Special guest is Martin’s very talented daughter, singer Jaz Lund.
This show sells out each year so we advise getting your tickets early. Tickets available through the Orcas Center Box Office: 376-ACT1 and online at www.orcascenter.org. All net proceeds benefit The Funhouse Commons.
