The Funhouse is excited to be one of the Orcas Island stops during the 2017 Green Home Tour this October 7th. Hosted by the San Juan Islands Conservation District, the tour provides a first hand look at the latest green technologies that increase energy and water efficiency in homes and businesses.
The Funhouse is included on the tour because of its ducted heat pump system and 12 kW solar array.
To participate in this free event, head to the Emmanuel Episcopal Hall (242 Main Street) on Saturday, October 7th. The day’s schedule includes:
- Sign in & networking: 10-11 a.m.
- Tour overview & green building speakers: 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Guided tour: 12-3 p.m. Participants will carpool in electric vehicles provided.
For additional tour information, visit the SJI Conservation District’s website or contact Ryan Palmateer, Energy Program Manager, at Ryan@sjicd.org or 360-378-
As many of you know, the Funhouse has been undergoing a major interior and exterior remodel since this past May.
Interior improvements include new carpeting, more natural light, and greater line of sight. The space also features a new reading/study center; expanded music, art and science rooms; a community meeting space; and more open areas for group activities.
We look forward to showing you all the changes. To view, come on the Green Home Tour, call us at 360-376-7177 to arrange a private tour, or join us for the official reopening celebration (to be held sometime late fall).
