Opening Reception Thursday, April 24 between 5:30 and 7 p.m.
— from Caroline Buchanan —
An exhibit of figures in watercolor by Caroline Buchanan is opening at the new Orcas Art Studios on Thursday, April 24 with a reception between 5:30 and 7:00 pm. The show continues through June 24.
Buchanan’s landscapes are known for their clear colors and luminous glow. These qualities are also foremost in her work with figures. She enjoys portraying people as they go about their lives. As a long-time teacher of watercolor, she continues to explore its unique qualities and to push it boundaries. The show includes paintings that exploit the white paper, and paintings created by pouring the paint directly from containers of color.
You may talk to the artist at the reception, and can read more about her thoughts at her blog https://www.buchananwatercolors.com/blog.cfm?technique-corner/post/figuratively-speaking-an-exhibit-of-watercolors)
