Wednesday, June 25, 6 – 7 p.m., Darvill’s Bookstore
— from Jenny Pederson —
Take a little trip to the quaint and lovely Darvill’s Bookstore in Eastsound on Orcas Island and join local author Susan Conrad as she shares stories and images from her newly published adventure memoir “Inside: One Woman’s Journey Through the Inside Passage.”
Sixty-six days, 1,148 miles, and a million magical moments after launching her sea kayak from Anacortes, Washington, Susan finally laid her paddle down in Juneau, Alaska. With her world scaled to an 18-foot sea kayak and a 1,200-mile ribbon of water known as the Inside Passage, Susan set off in search of answers to questions she had never thought to ask, paddled marathon distances for weeks on end, forged friendships with quirky people in the strangest places, and pretended not to be intimidated by 700-pound grizzly bears and 40-ton whales.
A story of the sea and soul!
