From Crow Valley Pottery

One of Orcas’ longest-running family businesses enters its 53rd season by presenting its annual Garden Art Show. The show, which features art ‘for and about the garden’, has long been an introduction of new work and artists to the shop. Many an Orcas artist has been ‘launched’ through Crow Valley- with some artists showing with the shop for nearly 20 years.

Robin Rodenberger is one of this season’s featured artists. Well known for her hand carved pottery- in styles ranging from leaves to tree bark – Robin will again present her newest patterns for the summer. And other Orcas artists and craftsmen featured in the Garden Art Show include Doug Sherburne, who’s driftwood and salvaged-wood tables, chairs and benches are set apart by the artist’s high level of quality and attention to detail. Peter Pere is an excellent sculptor who works in a variety of natural stone mediums, and his styles range from classic to contemporary. Maria Root again treats us with her whimsical and colorful garden pottery!

As always, the show will feature all manner of new garden glass, tiles and pottery. Especially exciting are the many new ‘finds’ that owners Jeffri Coleman and Michael Rivkin have invited to show their works with the shop this summer! Coleman says, “Recycled and ‘found-object’ metalwork is huge in American crafts these days, and so we made a dedicated effort to feature this exciting genre of garden art at this year’s show.”Coleman adds, “This is by far the largest collection of work we’ve ever offered at Crow Valley.”

The Garden Art Show opens with an Artist’s Reception this Friday, June 22 from 4 to 7 p.m., again including the fabulous music of Carolyn Cruso. The 2012 Crow Valley Pottery Garden Art Show runs thru July 9.
