The Food Bank has met its Building Drive goal:  over $70,000 has been contributed, according to Hilary Canty, Executive Director of the Orcas Island Community Foundation, which spearheaded the Food Bank Building Fund campaign.

This amount exceeds the required matching about to build the Food Bank facility on the property of the Orcas Island Community Church. Building will begin next spring. The ‘extra’ funds will be used for ongoing building maintenance, Canty says.

“The Food Bank Board is now turning their focus towards beefing up donations for food, as they are reaching the peak of need with the holidays approaching.”
