Karen Parsons was told of a boat on fire in the Deer Harbor Marina yesterday afternoon.

Down at the harbor, the fire would periodically die down, only to flame up again  through the night.

While at the dock, Parsons heard the story of a man who jumped into a Zodiac boat, attached a line to the burning boat, and towed it away from the marina. He then broke the boat’s windows so that water could get into the boat.”It was a really sad thing, Parsons said. “I felt grateful that guy was there.”

Clay Parsons said, “He took a significant risk in [hauling the burning boat away from the dock] but saved the marina in the process! Otherwise, the results could have been very bad indeed!”

Karen added that everyone on the dock was very sad at the loss of the boat, and apparently of a pet parrot that had been on board.
