Jo Anderson will begin teaching drawing at Orcas Art Studios, a new location in the Airport Center, 1286 Mt Baker Rd, Suite A4. Registration has begun and is ongoing. All skill levels are welcome!

Jo will work with students whether they just need to brush up on their already existing skills, or have never drawn before. The classes are weekly, two hours each. Scheduling is quite flexible as to day of the week and time of day – especially beneficial to homeschool youth. Ages: teens and up.

Students will study:

  • Materials and their use
  • Learning to see
  • Composition
  • Study of light and tonal values
  • Creating the illusion of 3 dimensional form
  • Atmospheric perspective
  • Linear perspective

Jo has taught drawing to ages 5 through senior adult for 13 years. She began with After-School Kid Art at Tri Dee art supplies in Mt Vernon, which she continued after moving to Anacortes, where she also worked with the Anacortes Youth Arts program. After teaching Conceptual Drawing for Adults at The Depot in Anacortes for a year, Jo got her “Studio 220” above the Scott Milo Gallery, where she has taught adults as well as teens for nine years and continues to do so after moving to Orcas.

“I am looking forward to establishing consistent, ongoing drawing instruction here on Orcas for youth and adults. I am very excited about working with those who have already signed up and who have expressed enthusiasm for spreading the word,” Jo expressed.
