— from Lena Kassa for Orcas Senior Center

The Orcas Senior Center (OSC) provides limited professional foot care services, but we can’t keep up with the growing number of baby boomers who need them. By supporting Orcas Island Community Foundation and OSC’s GiveOrcas campaign, you will help less fortunate elders and make sure these services are available when you need them.

Many Orcas elders are unable to afford foot care services, especially homebound individuals, those with disabilities and mobility restrictions.

  • Donations helping us reach our initial goal of $2,000 will allow OSC to reach out to new clients and provide coupons for free or reduced-cost foot care services. OSC will provide mobile services in people’s homes and/or assist with transportation to the OSC foot care clinic.

Our foot care clinic is inadequate and poorly ventilated (a serious health concern).

  • Help us reach our intermediate goal of $5,000, so we also can install adequate exhaust fans, vents, and a window to reduce the growth of harmful fungus in the treatment area.

Our treatment room has limited access for people with mobility constraints.

  • Please help us reach our final goal of $9,500, which in addition to the services above will allow us to install a more accessible treatment chair, a portable foot basin, and to purchase foot care instruments our nurses need.

Our long-term aim is to establish a foot care benefit fund to serve everyone, including low income seniors through a need-based, sliding fee scale. Please help us today… your feet will thank you tomorrow.

Between May 1 – 17, please donate to our GiveOrcas campaign, at https://oicf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create?grant_id=5881
