||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND GARDEN CLUB |||

Spring is here and the birds are singing! But what might they be saying? Wake up early, get some fresh air, gift your body with exercise and learn about our local birds.

Join the Orcas Island Garden Club for a free, open to the public “walk and talk” at Cascade Lake in Moran State Park. Our guide will be Tyler Davis, an Environmental Project Manager and Scientist with San Juan County who doubles as a birding guide on San Juan Island.

We will hike around Cascade Lake with the opportunity to see both water and woodland birds. The 3 mile trail is rated moderate with some steep inclines and should take from 2 to 2/2 hours.

Since the early walker sees the bird, we’ll meet at the at lakeside shelter at 8:00 am and start our walk at 8:15am. Dress for the weather in hiking clothes and wear appropriate shoes. Bring binoculars, snacks and your birding curiosity.

*You will need a discovery pass to park at Moran. A day pass can be purchased for $10 per car. Bring your friends! No registration required.

Do you enjoy walking and experiencing nature?!

The garden club has a brand new ‘Friends and Fitness’ walking group! Check out the club calendar for upcoming walks and join us!
