The display case at the Orcas Island Library this September features art by Christina (Chris) Frausto. Chris is a renowned artist, curator, and educator whose book-related art spans over 30 years. She has served as curator of art for Ontario International Airport, a featured artist for the Smithsonian Maloof Foundation, a board member for several arts organizations, and a teacher helping folks learn book binding skills.
Chris’s goals include sharing her unusual hand bound books made from damaged books, hoping to inspire others to think beyond the traditional. By saving parts of damaged books new, creative ones can be made.
