Following the Council’s action, the Shoreline Master Program is submitted to the Washington Department of Ecology (WDOE) for review and adoption. WDOE’s adoption process will include at least one public hearing in the County. (It is likely that WDOE will hold more than one public hearing.)
Only when WDOE has completed its adoption process, does the approved SMP come into effect.

Let us hope that Dept. of Ecology rejects this severely diluted SMP as being too weak, and too pro-development, at the expense of risking the chain of Life that depends on healthy beaches and shoreline/nearshore habitat.
