Thursday, September 28, 6 – 7:30 p.m., Funhouse Commons

— from Emilie Gincig —

Trillium Swanson, LMHCA, a youth and adult counselor on Orcas, shares tools and the science behind how parents can reduce conflict with their children through understanding the brain-under-stress, and how to harness the power of the stress response to manage conflict with your children and adolescents. We will explore specific steps parents can take to track and manage their own emotional-stress responses when in conflict, and how to interpret the often puzzling reactions of teens, to reduce unnecessary fighting at home.

All parents of elementary-age children and adolescents are welcome; we will highlight similarities and critical differences in approaching conflict with both age groups. This workshop is based in the research and writing of Dr. Dan Siegel, as well as other current science-writing on adolescent development.

Thursday, September 28, 6 — 7:30 p.m. at the Funhouse Commons. Free. Please contact Emilie at emilie@thefunhouse.org or 360-376-7177 to register.
