The second in the Orcas Island UUF series of services about ethical eating will take place at this Sunday’s service at Benson Hall (Episcopal Church) beginning at 11:30 a.m. Our presenter will be Madie Murray on the topic “Farm to Cafeteria: Feeding our Kids for a Healthy Future.” The series will conclude on Nov. 10 with a presentation by Zenitha Amani on the “Orcas Island Food Co-op.”

This year’s overall them at OIUUF is Community Well-Being. Understanding and acting on issues of social justice is an integral part of the UU Seven Principles, which are:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; and
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The Orcas Island UUF meets the second and fourth Sundays at 11:30 am at Benson Hall. All are welcome. Childcare is available if you let us know ahead of time. Learn more at our website, or contact Suzanne Olson via email.
