Orcas Garden Club Meeting Features Ciscoe Morris One of the Northwest’s most popular and well-known gardening gurus, Ciscoe Morris, will be a speaker at this months Orcas Garden Club meeting. Come learn about plants, deterring deer and attracting hummingbirds to your garden. 10 a.m. at Orcas Center Stage. The lecture is free for garden club members and $10 for non-members. Darvill’s Book Store will bring a supply of Ciscoe’s latest book to the meeting. Ciscoe will stay after the meeting to sign books for those who purchase them. “Saving the Sounds” violin class with Paul Anastasio – Master Fiddler, teacher, and music archivist. Paul will be lecturing on four vintage fiddle styles, 7 to 8 p.m. at Orcas Center. Cost: $10.

Indian Island Marine Health Observatory Field Research, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Join local scientists and community volunteers at Eastsound Waterfront Park in conducting surveys of fish and inter-tidal creatures on low tide days during the spring and summer. Learn about the unique marine life of our home waterfront. At the lowest tide between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. We will be seining and identifying forage fish in the eelgrass meadows. Turtleback Bird Walk with Kim Middleton at Turtleback Mountain Preserve. 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bring binoculars and water. Middleton has been an avid bird watcher since she was ten years old. Easter Egg Hunt at Cascade Lake Shelter Area, The Orcas Island Lions Club invite Orcas kids to take part in the annual Easter egg hunt! It will start at 10 a.m. sharp – rain or shine! Be sure to bring your egg baskets. All kids get $1 off Lily ice cream cones, and 3 lucky kids will receive vouchers for a free ice cream cone!
