Martin Luther King’s speech, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence A community reading will be given at 5:15 pm at the Parish Hall of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound.

Student Assembly on the Dangers of Distracted Driving 1:30 p.m. at Orcas High School Gym.  The Orcas community is invited to view the video  reenactment of a car crash as a result of a texting driver and then take part in a brief Q&A at the end. Collection Management Committee meeting  at 2:30 in the Library meeting room. This group will get together once a month with Adult Public Services Librarian Kathy Lunde, and Library Board member Alan Lichter.  The purpose of these meetings will be to suggest new titles to be added to the Library’s collections, and discuss the items with the group. 376-4985.

Children’s House Fundraiser at the New Leaf Cafe Sara Munson of The Local Vine in Seattle, returns to the Outlook Inn in a fund raising event for Children’s House from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Music between presentations will entertain all.  The funds generated from this event will support Children’s House, a preschool early learning program.  For information and tickets, contact Susan Anderson at 376-4744

Moran State Park Clean Up — The Friends of Moran will host its annual park cleanup on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..  Volunteers are invited come and help clean up the park, clearing trails of fallen trees and branches brought down by recent storms and provide campsite maintenance. www.FriendsofMoran.com

The Salish Sea Early Music Festival is delighted to bring two of the finest interpreters of J.S. Guided Interpretive Walk at the Judd Cove Preserve with Preserve Steward Ruthie Dougherty. Starts at 2 p.m. The walk will explore the preserve’s natural and cultural history, including the lime quarry and kiln located on the property.
