Ancestral Blueprints: Revealing Invisible Truths in America’s Soul, Reading by Linda Iverson, author and psychotherapist at 7 p.m. at Darvill’s. “This book contains my reflections on psychotherapy, truth, ancestry, tribe, and democracy,” explains Iversen. “Many who seek therapy to heal their own pain also hope to heal wounded family networks. This hope contains the invisible, often unacknowledged truth that our lives are deeply affected by events that took place in earlier generations.  This book offers a compassionate framework for observing and interacting with life, inspired by our ancestral blueprints.” 376-2135.

Brilliant Traces performances at the Grange Oct. 14 -16 before going to Seatle for two weekends 7:30 p.m. In  Brilliant Traces, the critically acclaimed play by Cindy Lou Johnson, starring Melinda Milligan and Norm Stamper and directed by Doug Bechtel, Stamper plays Henry Harry, a lonely, embittered hermit who lives in a converted barn deep in the remote woods of Alaska. Henry is awakened in the middle of the night by a stranger, Melinda Milligan’s Rosannah DeLuce, who has fled an impending marriage and is, herself, emotionally wounded and distraught. The three performances on Orcas begin at 7:30pm at the Grange. Tickets are $10 and are available at Darvill’s Book Store, at the door and on-line at www.orcasactors.com.. Call 317-5601.

The Funhouse Winemaker’s Dinner at the Doe Bay Cafe, featuring Stephenson Cellars of Walla Walla!  A four-course meal featuring delicacies like Jerusalem artichockes, Alaskan weathervane scallops, Doe Bay garden vegetables, Alaskan king salmon, chanterelle mushrooms, squash agnolotti, creme fraiche and truffle oil.  Two dessert options, including Honey panna cotta with grilled figs.  Prepared by chef Abigael Birrell.  Only $75 per person; wine flight: $20 per person.
