How many decades has it been since you last looked at music or picked up a horn? Twenty years? Forty? The Orcas Island Community Band does not care. Everyone learns more notes as time passes. Sometimes it’s even possible to help you find an instrument to use.
Band members range from school students to working people to retirees. The band plays two primary concerts – December and early June – and several other events, including the Eastsound Tree-lighting Ceremony, Fourth of July Parade, and Fourth of July Fireworks.
Band night is Mondays during the school year only, at the high school music room. Practice is from 7 to 9 p.m. A new season is just beginning. We welcome new players any time. Your fellow members will give you tips and help you along. If you’d like more information, phone Secretary Karen Speck at 360-376-2204..
