At the conclusion of today’s recount of ballots in San Juan County’s District 6 Council Election, there was no change in the totals.

Jamie Stephens won the race by 11 votes: 877 to 866 over incumbent Councilman Bob Myhr.

Because the margin was greater than 0.5% of the total votes cast before the recount, Mr. Myhr is responsible for the entire cost of the recount. Auditor Milene Henley reported that Myhr had paid a deposit equal to 25 cents per ballot cast when he requested the recount, as required by law. He will be billed for the balance after the total cost is calculated.

The Canvass Board will meet tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. to certify the outcome.
