Workshops on Lopez and San Juan Islands May 30-31

— from the San Juans Conservation District —

Grow soil, regenerate the land and be a part of a solution for climate change!

You have an incredible opportunity to join Peter Donovan to learn the basics of soil carbon science and be part of a creative solution for the future.

Today we understand, as never before, the crucial role of soil carbon in biosphere function, soil fertility, flooding and drought, biodiversity, and the carbon content of the atmosphere. Peter Donovan is a renowned and dedicated leader in the field of soil carbon.

Over many years, Donavan has been establishing baseline measurements for soil carbon change on lands from Mexico to Canada, Vermont to California. In a series of workshops in the islands, he will explain the underpinnings of carbon science, inspire creative solutions, and help us set up a system of soil testing to establish how much carbon we are sequestering in island soils over time.

Join us for this innovative and forward-thinking event, co-sponsored by the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild, the San Juan Islands Conservation District, and Washington State University Extension in San Juan County.
