Simon Winchester

Orcas Island is abuzz in anticipation of British author Simon Winchester’s appearance on island for an Orcas Crossroads Lecture at 2 p.m. this Sunday, April 17 at Orcas Center.  The lecture is entitled The Fascination of China:  Past, Present and Future.

Mr. Winchester announces that he’ll arrive at Orcas Center an hour early for a book signing.  The signing is scheduled from 1-1:45 p.m. in the Center’s Madrona Room, and the public is welcome.  Darvill’s Bookstore carries some of Mr. Winchester’s books, and will also make them available for sale at the book signing.

With decades of high profile experience as a journalist, broadcaster and teller-of-tales, Mr. Winchester will elucidate unique perspectives about China and how it has evolved into the industrial and financial giant of today.

Tickets for the lecture are available at Darvill’s Bookstore, the Orcas Island Public Library and (probably?) at the door.  For those who could not otherwise attend, a limited number of complimentary tickets are available in advance through the Library and Senior Center. Visit www.orcascrossroads.org for more information.
