A Lopez Island deputy checked on the well being of a child who was the subject of a custody dispute. The child was found safe and sound with his parent. Custody issues are pending before the courts.
16-007384 Unwanted Person 16:01:30 09/26/16
A Lopez Island deputy was called by an island resident to remove an unwanted guest from the property. The guest, a family member was removed from the property and delivered to a friend’s house. No further action necessary.

Deputies were directed to look into a theft, destruction of property at an Eastsound residence. Deputies conducted an initial investigation and a report will be completed.
16-007409 Welfare Check 13:03:51 09/27/16
A Lopez Island deputy along with Lopez Island EMS responded to a man down along Center Rd. The man was uninjured and refused medical assistance. A friend came upon the scene and the subject left with him. No further action needed.
16-007416 Accident-NonInj 19:15:38 09/27/16
A Lopez Island Deputy, along with Fire and EMS, responded to the 5000 block of Center Road for a roll over vehicle collision on 09/27/16. Although the vehicle was severely damaged, there were no injuries. The investigation revealed no crime and the cause appeared to be a distracted driver. A report was completed.

A vessel WN8446NZ, was tied to the San Juan County West Sound dock after day use hours. I put a warning notice on this vessel last night. The vessel hasn’t moved since. Another Deputy told me that this vessel was on the other side of this same dock a few nights ago.

A Deputy was dispatched to report of fraud in Friday Harbor. The reporting party involved was able to provide a suspect who will be interviewed after all statements are collected. Investigation Continues.

A manager from a local Friday Harbor business requested a subject be trespassed from their property due to safety issues their employees have over his presence. The subject was trespassed and advised to discuss the trespass with the business management via telephone if he needed to.
16-007458 Attempted Suicide 13:30:58 09/29/16
A Friday Harbor resident contacted the Sheriffs Office to report concern of his daughter’s welfare. We attempted to help him locate her with negative results. I spoke to her on the phone and she stated she was safe. The father requested we continue searching for her to confirm her safety.

Deputies responded to a single vehicle traffic accident on Cattle Point Road. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of Intoxicating liquor/drugs.

A Deputy was dispatched to four people in the water in Cattle Passage. They were rescued and evaluated by medical staff. USCG took over the investigation.

A Deputy was dispatched to a report of trespassers on his property. The trespassers were contacted and instructed not to return. No further information.

Complainant WILSON delivered a mountain bike to the Sheriff’s Office. Subsject stated the bicycle had been left at the boat launch area at Sportsman’s Lake for the past four months, and that he had expressed interest in taking ownership of it.

A Deputy was dispatched to a citizen dispute in Eastsound. After talking with both parties involved it was deemed a civil matter. A report was taken.

A Deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a theft of some vegetables from a garden. Currently there are no suspects.

The reporting deputy observed a subject in a bar in violation of his probation. The subject was contacted and removed from the bar without incident. Report forwarded to Probation for action.

SJC Sheriff Deputies responded to a vehicle collision in Eastsound. The driver had serious injuries. He showed signs of alcohol consumption. The case is being investigated as a possible Driving Under the Influence. The driver was flown off-island. The investigation continues.

A reporting deputy was dispatched to a Hit and Run in the San Juan Island area. The victim was contacted at the scene. Photos were taken of the damage. No suspects at this time.

Deputies responded to a residence in Friday Harbor to investigate a domestic
dispute. Parties were separated and no further enforcement action was taken.
16-007516 Accident-HitRun 16:52:55 10/01/16
Deputy investigated a hit and run to a vehicle while parked at Peace Health
hospital. The incident took place between 09-30-2016 and 10-01-2016. Damage to
the victims vehicle is in excess of $1,000.

Deputies were dispatched to an Eastsound residence reference a theft. Deputies arrived and completed an initial investigation. A report was completed. No further action was required.

A Lopez Island deputy was called regarding a suspicious vehicle at a business after hours. A local resident was contacted at the vehicle, and explained that he had stopped to buy a soda out of the vending machine. He added that he does so almost every evening.

An Eastsound resident called to report a protection order violation. A report was submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

The reporting deputy was dispatched to a Single Vehicle Traffic Accident in the San Juan Island area. The reporting deputy arrived and discovered a single vehicle off the roadway and into a tree. The single occupant was transported to the hospital for treatment. Accident investigated

A deputy was dispatched to a Citizen Dispute in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted one of the involved parties. The subject broke the window to his own apartment to gain access. No crime was committed but the was found to be in violation of probation conditions.

An unknown subject(s) entered the home of a Friday Harbor resident and removed several items and money. This is an ongoing investigation.

A San Juan resident reported theft of her medication. She said she was helping a homeless person by feeding him and allowing him to shower on Friday. When she went to get her meds today she found the empty bottle in the trash. Investigation continues.

Deputies contacted a wanted subject at an Eastsound business. The subject was able to post bond and was released with a promise to appear in court.
16-007577 Burglary – Residential 18:34:52 10/03/16
A Friday Harbor resident reported that a male he knew entered thru a window, grabbed a cell phone and then fled. It was determined the cell phone belonged to the man who grabbed it, but the apartment owner still wants him charged with trespass. Investigation continues.

A Lopez Island deputy responded to a mental health crisis call with EMS. The patient was transported to a mainland hospital for evaluation.

A Lopez Island man reported the theft of personal papers and other items from his home. A relative is believed to be involved in the theft. The matter is under investigation.

A Deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a hit and run. The victim reported that her vehicle was hit in a parking lot causing damage to her vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

A Lopez Island deputy checked on a disabled vehicle along Center Rd. The vehicle posed no immediate hazard and was removed soon thereafter by the owner. No further action taken.

A Lopez Island man reported a trespasser came into his yard and frightened his children who were outside playing. The subject left after being told repeatedly to leave the property and not return. A report was taken and the investigation is continuing.

A Deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of an unwanted person. The residents at the apartment wanted an intoxicated person to leave. The Deputy assisted the residents by giving the person a ride home.

A Lopez Island man reported a dog running at large in the area of Mud Bay and Mackaye Harbor Rd. The dog returned home on its own before the deputy arrived. No further action necessary

An Orcas Deputy recognized and contacted a wanted subject at the Village Green. The warrants were confirmed and the subject was placed under arrest.
