A Lopez Island Deputy was sent to investigate a boat reportedly aground on a beach near Shark Reef Park. After searching the area on foot, no beached vessels were located in the area.

An Orcas Island Deputy issued a County Parking citation to a boat at Obstruction Pass County dock for expired vessel registration and illegal moorage.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of theft. It was determined throughout the investigation that the reporting party was providing false statements to the Deputy. The report will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision for the reporting party.

An Orcas Island Deputy authored an incident report reference a non-criminal dispute between neighbors over speeding on a private roadway.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a report of a possible stolen credit card. It was determined the credit card was not stolen and a report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of vandalism.There are no suspects or evidentiary leads at this time. The incident was documented.

21-008420 Aircraft Problem 18:26:01 09/16/21
Orcas Deputies responded along with Orcas Fire and EMS and State Parks units to a downed aircraft. A single-engine airplane crashed in a field after a reported engine failure. The three passengers were airlifted from the scene.

A San Juan Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a speeding driver. The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant based on a canine sniff. Deputies found drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle. Due to recent law changes, the suspect was referred to Compass Health in lieu of criminal charges.

A Lopez Island Deputy was sent to investigate a peculiar noise in a neighborhood. Neither the noise nor its source could be located or identified. Nearby residents suspected it may have been related to the heavy rain.

21-008464 Traffic Hazard 09:27:44 09/18/21
A Lopez Island Deputy assisted a motorist whose vehicle quit running in the traffic lane of Fisherman Bay Rd. When the driver was unable to restart the car, it was pushed off the roadway to a safe spot on the shoulder. The owner will arrange for tow or repair.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called to pick up a stray dog that wandered into a village business unaccompanied by its human. As the Deputy was getting ready to leave with the dog, its owner arrived looking for it frantically. They were happily reunited and sent on their way.

A Lopez Island resident turned in an Alaska driver license found on a south end beach. The license was logged as found property, pending claim by its owner.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a dog-at-large complaint. The owner was located and issued a warning.

A community member found a cellular phone on the roadway and turned it in to the Sheriff’s Office. A report was completed and the property was placed in evidence.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a septic alarm sounding at a Lopez residence. The homeowner was contacted and alerted to the alarm.

Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a mental subject. There was an order in place for a mental health hold. The subject refused to go to the hospital. Due to the changes in law, Deputies were unable to physically restrain the subject and get them the help they need.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic dispute. One of the involved was arrested for Harassment – Domestic Violence.

21-008508 Mental Health 11:49:16 09/19/21

A Deputy was dispatched to a Mental Health issue in the Friday Harbor area. The Deputies arrived and contact the involved people. The Deputies were preparing to leave when they were assaulted. One person arrested and taken into custody.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of an animal bite. A child was bitten by a stray dog after trying to grab it. The dog was transported to APS. The child was taken to the hospital by family.

Orcas Island Deputies were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance. It was determined that the reporting party was extremely intoxicated. No crime was committed. She became aggressive with the officer so they left the area. A report was taken.

A Deputy on Orcas Island located an individual on a property he had previously been trespassed from. The Deputy contacted the individual and informed him he would be charged with criminal trespass.

21-008538 Accident-Injury, Traffic 16:24:00 09/20/21
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a minor traffic collision.

21-008540 Theft 17:19:52 09/20/21
A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a theft and criminal trespass complaint. The reporting person stated she saw an unidentified male take an item from her property without permission. The male was located and the item was retrieved. The matter is being investigated for criminal charges.

San Juan Deputy took a report of a suspicious vehicle in a neighborhood. The caller noted it was the second day the vehicle was there and occupied. The vehicle was contacted, but no crime was found. A suspicious report was filed.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a theft call. A plastic recovery cone meant to be worn by a dog was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

21-008562 Trespassing 19:50:59 09/21/21
A San Juan Deputy responded to a complaint of trespassing at a business in Friday Harbor. The suspect was named in a no-trespass order for the business. An investigation was completed and the case was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.

21-008565 Burglary – Residential 23:09:29 09/21/21
A San Juan Deputy responded to an intruder in a condominium. The complainant said an unknown man entered their home, accessed their fridge and ate their soup before being scared off by the tenant. The suspect was not located, and a report was filed.
