A Lopez Island deputy was called to a reported theft at the Lopez Historical Museum. Possible suspects were described to the deputy who searched the village without success. A report was taken.

Deputies responded to a private health care facility in Friday Harbor for an unwanted person. The person was gone on arrival.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a residence on Shark Reef Road for a welfare check after the resident, who the reporting person believed was ill, did not answer her telephone. It was determined that no one at the residence was in distress. A report was completed.

A San Juan Island resident discovered his credit card was being used after he was in a local business in Friday Harbor. Within a short time after using his credit card he discovered approximately $3,000 dollars had been charged on Internet purchases. The bank reversed the charges and is investigating.

A female subject went to a property she was trespassed from. The property owner saw the female on the property and immediately told her to leave. She refused and had to be told repeatedly to go. The female had already been trespassed by the property owner and ex-boyfriend.

Deputies responded to Pear Pt. and Argyle Ave. reference a vehicle driving erratically. The driver left the scene of the collision after causing damage and was arrested a short time later for DUI, Hit and Run Property Damage and attempted Assault with a deadly weapon.

A Deputy issued a motorist a ticket for speeding on 07/27/16 after he saw him speeding in the 1400 block of Fisherman Bay Road, Lopez Island.

A Deputy responded to the Olga area in regards to a hit and run. No other vehicles were struck, just property. Evidence was found on scene and collected. The Driver came forward and said he avoided a deer and he was not injured. A report was taken.

Deputies were dispatched to a Friday Harbor business for a Trespassing complaint. The business owner decided he no longer wanted the customer on his property and he requested the customer be issued a trespassing letter. No further.

There was a reported assault at the Eastsound library. When deputies arrived, neither party wished to pursue the matter.

A found bicycle was reported on Orcas Island. It was collected and booked into property at the Orcas Substation.

A male reported being robbed of his cash by a person giving him a ride to the Orcas ferry landing. The investigation continues.

Deputies were dispatched to an angry argument, involving road rage. Parties were separated and interviewed and negligent driving charges are being considered. investigation continues.

A Deputy responded to a Mud Bay Road residence to investigate a reported theft. The home owner claimed a sum of cash, which she left in her unlocked house, was missing. She believed someone must have entered her home without permission and taken the money. A report was taken.

Deputies investigated a damaged mailbox on the west side of San Juan Island. The mailbox is valued at $400.

A Deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle non-injury collision in Friday Harbor. A collision report was taken. No further.

Deputies responded to the report of a possible residential burglary that had just occurred on Kanaka Bay Road. Said report was unfounded.
16-005369 Assault – Aggravated 08:50:02 07/29/16
Lopez deputies were dispatched to a reported assault on a private beach. Upon investigation it was discovered to be an argument regarding clamming access to private tidelands. No charges filed.

Deputies responded to a harassment call on Orcas Island. After talking with both parties there were no criminal actions and both parties came to an agreement.

Deputies received a report of an argument at Jackson Beach. We were told an intoxicated person had driven off towards town in a small white SUV. The SUV was located at the Big Store and the driver was arrested and processed for DUI. His vehicle was impounded.

A Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle speeding 73 MPH in the posted 45 MPH zone in the 6400 block of Roche Harbor Road. Driver was issued a traffic infraction for speeding.

A Deputy pulled over a vehicle for no tail lights on at night. Driver has a suspended license. She was cited. Vehicle was towed per WAC/San Juan County Code.

Deputies were dispatched to an Eastsound address in regards to a domestic assault. After interviewing all parties, probable cause was determined and the primary aggressor was arrested and taken to jail. A report was made.

A Deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday Harbor and the driver was issued an infraction for speed and warned for no proof of insurance.

A Lopez Island woman called deputies after finding a dog wandering on her property. The dog owner came and got the dog before the deputy arrived. No further action taken at this time.

A Deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday and the driver was issued an infraction for cell phone use while driving and warned for expired registration and no current proof of Insurance.

A concerned Lopez Island resident called deputies regarding people swimming in Hummel Lake. A deputy checked and all in or on the lake were wearing lifejackets and appeared to be very well supervised by adults. No further action is necessary.

A Deputy responded to a collision with injuries in the area of the 3400 block of West Valley Road. Subsequent investigation revealed a crime had been committed and the driver was arrested for vehicular assault. Police Traffic Collision Report was completed.

A kayaker off the west side of Lopez Island found a submerged backpack containing a handgun. The bag and contents were turned over to a Lopez deputy. An investigation to determine the owner of the gun and why it was in the water has begun.

A Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding 43 MPH in posted 25 MPH Zone of Mount Baker Road. Driver had been previously warned for speeding on Mount Baker Road. Driver was issued a traffic infraction for speeding.

Deputies responded to a bike accident that turned out to be caused by a car making a left turn. There was no contact, but the bicyclist went over the handlebars trying to stop. The driver was cited for failure to yield and the bicyclist was transported to the ER by the Aid Unit.

A Lopez Island woman reported a dog has been coming onto her property repeatedly. She held the dog until a deputy arrived. The dog was returned to its home. The dog owner was cited for allowing the dog to run at large.

A Lopez Island deputy was sent to put down a deer hit by a car along Center Rd. No injured deer was located in the area. No action taken.

A Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle in the 5000 block of Cattle Point Road. Driver was issued a traffic infraction for speeding 65 MPH in the posted 45 MPH zone.

A Lopez Island deputy responded to assist a motorist whose motorhome had broken down partially blocking the intersection of Fisherman Bay and Cross Rds. A tow truck had been called and removed the motorhome clearing the hazard. No further action was necessary.

A Deputy responded to the Lopez Village for an indecent exposure complaint. The suspect stated he urinated in a business’s park lot after he was unable to get to a bathroom. He denied intentionally exposing himself. The witness confirmed he did not expose himself. A report was completed.
