Tuesday, Sept. 11
The San Juan County Council is set to adopt the updated Solid Waste Plan (7.7 MB) on Tuesday September 11. The plan is based on the county’s solid waste system changing from a primarily self-haul system to a primarily route collection system. A continued public hearing to approve the resolution adopting the plan is set for 2:45 p.m. during the county Council’s meeting in the legislative building at 55 Second Street (Friday Harbor).
Wednesday, Sept. 12
The Orcas High School Strings and advanced Middle School players will perform a fundraising concert at Orcas Island Community Church on Wednesday, September 12 at 7 p.m. to raise money to help pay their teachers’ salaries and support the current music program. Admission is by donation, and a reception will follow the concert.
Thursday, Sept. 13
Due to the evening power outage in July 13, the MET: LIVE IN HD’s fourth opera of the summer Encore Series,”Les Contes d’Hoffmann” by Offenbach was cancelled. It will be re-aired at Orcas Center this coming Thursday, September 13 at 7:30 pm. Those who had purchased tickets for the original July showing will receive complimentary tickets
Friday, Sept. 14
Local pianist and vocalist Grace McCune will be joined by national touring violinist Joel Gamble this weekend for a night of music at Agave Restaurant in Eastound this Friday Sept. 14th from 7:30-9:30.
