Saturday, May 18, 5 p.m., Orcas Center

— from Laura Kussman for Orcas Center —

Take flight and explore cultural treasures of the world through taste, touch, and sound at Orcas Center’s 2019 “See The World” Gala and auction, where you will have the opportunity to support the work of Orcas Center and its commitment to local and national artists.  The gala, which is OC’s biggest annual fundraising event, will be held at Orcas Center (917 Mt. Baker Rd.) on Saturday, May 18th at 5 pm.

Pick up your passport and pose for your passport photo, the best way to collect stamps is to tour the signature cocktails mixed by The Barnacle and worldly hors d’oeuvres during the silent auction. The silent auction will feature themed baskets curated by Board members and stocked with winnings from local businesses, and a wine auction provided by Lisa Kaylor’s amazing collection of wines.

At 6:30 p.m., The Rock on the Rock Choir and Island Aerial Acrobatics will deliver a powerful preview of Cirque-Us featuring music from the highest selling soundtrack of all time, The Greatest Showman.

Prior to the live auction, plated dinner with wine pairings provided by Mary Russell and Ron Rebman of Orcas Village Store will be served. Come in costume or come as you are, surprises and sensations abound.

“The board and staff have been working hard to create this fantastic event,”  Laura Kussman said. “We look forward to showcasing a few of Orcas Center’s current campaigns and initiatives. We invite the community to join us in raising money to ensure a bright future for Orcas Center for years to come.”

Tickets are $200. To purchase, please visit www.orcascenter.org/events or call the box office Tuesday – Friday between noon and 3pm at (360)376-2281. Thank you to our generous Gala sponsor Cavallini & Co!

Founded in 1976, Orcas Center is a community institution dedicated to providing an inclusive space for all people at all levels of their artistic journey, encouraging participation in the arts through advocacy, education and outreach, and serving as a dynamic, symbiotic resource for the building blocks of creativity to rise. Orcas Center strives actively to embody these tenants and community support enables OC’s permission to do so. As Anthony The Dancer says, “how lucky we are to provide proof we exist!”
