In conjunction with Imagine Arts and Music Festival, Orcas Center is pleased to present a special double-bill of Sea Stars and Sorne, Wednesday September 18 at 7:30 p.m. on Center Stage.

The music of Katie Gray and Kurt Baumann, collectively known as Sea Stars, is a mood to be experienced. Heartfelt and somber, mysterious and haunting, uplifting and hopeful…these are but a few words that often swim around the room to define the music the two singers and songwriters invoke. Katie (www.katiegray.com) has been a guest vocal with groups such as Band of Horses (live on Jimmy Kimmel), Nightmares on Wax, Ani Difranco and Random Rab, while Kurt enjoys to focus primarily on recording and performing with his band The Burned (www.theburnedmusic.com). Most recently the two were featured on NBC’s The Today Show with Hoda Kotb performing their duet “Time” live.

The evening event continues with Sorne, a multi-disciplinary, award-winning, prolific visual artist, musician, actor and filmmaker, boasting an unparalleled vocal range with perfect pitch. Sorne brings listeners to tears with his angelic falsetto, and churns crowds into a writhing frenzy with his other-worldly sound. Sorne has been featured in Rolling Stone magazine’s top 50 finds at South By Southwest in 2015 and Art in America for the 2009 Texas Biennial. He has performed and shown his work at some of the most prestigious venues in America and Europe, winning over the hearts and minds of audiences at Art Basel Miami, Irving Plaza in New York and Ableton’s LOOP conference in Berlin.

It’s rare to have two complimentary, yet distinctly unique performance artists share the same stage. Don’t miss your opportunity to experience these artists live after the Imagine Festival has wrapped. Tickets range from $15-$47, and are available online at www.OrcasCenter.org.
