Orcas Island Schools announced at 9 this morning that the schools are closed due to snowfall earlier this morning.
On this last day of school before the Holiday Break, a monthly assembly for the elementary school, classroom decorating contests in the middle school and a holiday luncheon in the high school had all been planned.
Superintendent Barbara Kline said, “This means we are starting the holiday earlier than planned. Have a wonderful holiday!”
The cancellation means that a “snow day” will be added to the school calendar at some point this 2013-14 school year.
