At the last regular meeting of the Orcas Island School District (OISD) Board of Directors tomorrow, the consent agenda calls for a roster of advisors to help OISD classes and clubs.
The board will review the assignments on the consent agenda as follows:
- Kari Schuh as the Senior Class Advisor (annual stipend: $1,135)
- Natasha Meskew as the Junior Class Advisor (annual stipend: $1,135)
- Michael Buckner as the Sophomore Class Advisor (annual stipend: $378)
- Philip Carter, Lori Oakes and Laura Tidwell as the MS ASB/Class Advisors (annual stipends: $378, each)
- Vicki Clancy as the HS ASB Advisor (annual stipend: $567)
- Gregory Books as the Ecology/Environmental Club Advisor (annual stipend: $1,135)
- Nancy Wrightsman as the National Honor Society Advisor (annual stipend: $378)
- Kari Schuh and Maurice Austin to equally share the Key Club Advisor position (annual stipends:$567, each)
- Kari Schuh as the Vocational Director (annual stipend: $2,837)
- Corey Wiscomb as the HS Yearbook Advisor (annual stipend: $1,892)
The OISD Board is also scheduled to accept an anonymous donation of $27,130.00 for Marine Science classes for upper elementary thru high school classes for the next two years.
In addition, the Orcas Island Education Foundation (OIEF) will contribute $10.500 in the following amounts:
■ $500 for teacher training (Orcas Institute) on August 26 & 27;
■ $2000 for 6th grade OPI trip;
■ $8000 for Expansion of Farm to Classroom to Middle School.
The board will set school meal prices, which currently are:
- Breakfast: K-12 $1.50; Adults $1.65
- Lunch K-6: $2.50; 7-12 $3.00; Adults $5.00
The agenda also calls for the board to:
- Review and approve district goals for 2013-14 school year;
- Review documents for transfer of Buck Park – OISD Draft resolution; Transfer letter; Quit Claim Deed Draft;
- Approve handbooks: OASIS K-12, Elementary, Middle School, and High School for Students and Parents;
- Approve Administrative Salary Scale;
- Review and approve Risk Management Program.
The meeting will be held in the back room of the school library, beginning at 5 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and comment during public announcement and public comment sessions.
