The Board of Directors of the Orcas Island School District will hold a special monthly board meeting on Monday, Nov. 23 to accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday. The meeting time is moved up to 5 p.m. in order that there be a walk-through of the School Bond Construction project with Liz LeRoy, Project Manager, and David Mount of Mahlum Architects.
On the agenda is a presentation by Julie Pinardi of the new Student and Family Empowerment (SAFE) program. Pinardi is the Youth Advocate and SAFE program leader for the School district.
Public comment is scheduled before the General Business discussion.
Items for possible Board action on the agenda in the General Business discussions are:
Approve a Resolution for a 4-year Maintenance and Operations Levy on The Feb. 9, 2016 ballot;
Approve the Student and Family Empowerment (SAFE) Program Plan
Approve revisions/updates to policies for:
- Reading and Early Literacy Program
- High School Graduation Requirements
- Nonresident Students
- Sexual Harassment of Students Prohibition Policy
- Required Notification of Use of Restraint of [sic] Isolation on Students with IEPs (Individual Education Plans)
- Maintaining Professional Staff Student Boundaries
