JIC media briefing features dashboard demonstration. Today the JIC held a briefing about the state’s new COVID-19 data dashboard which was demonstrated by state health officer Dr. Kathy Lofy. The interactive Power BI dashboard was developed by Microsoft AI for Health in partnership with the state. It contains county-level data related to key metrics in the governor’s Safe Start reopening plan. The briefing is available on TVW at this link.

Fourteen counties approved to move into next phase of Safe Start plan. Today Secretary of Health John Wiesman approved 14 counties to move to the next phase of Gov. Jay Inslee’s Safe Start plan. Full news release here.

L&I releases new workplace mask guidance helps determine “Which Mask for Which Task”. Most workers in Washington will have to wear a mask or face covering at work under new coronavirus workplace safety and health requirements that take effect June 8.

The new guidance document, “Which Mask for Which Task?,” describes various types of jobs based on the level of risk to workers, from negligible risk to extremely high. The publication spells out which face-covering, mask, or respirator is required for that task. Full news release and more information here

Inslee issues safety plan template for businesses in Phase 3. Gov. Jay Inslee today released a template for businesses in Phase 3 of the Washington “Safe Start” plan. Each business or entity operating in Phase 3 must develop a written safety plan outlining how its workplace will prevent the spread of COVID-19. A business may fill out this template to fulfill the requirement or may develop its own safety plan. 

Businesses are still required to follow the state’s industry-specific guidance, if issued for their specific industry.

Guidance for sporting activities in Phases 2 and 3 released.The governor’s office has released guidance covering professional sports, youth team sports and adult recreational team sports. Through the Safe Start plan, more businesses and activities will re-open in phases, with adequate safety and health standards in place. Each phase will be at least three weeks.
