Campbell’s Mystery Hour Aug. 6 at the Orcas Center
See live radio created before your eyes, complete with sound effects created on the spot!
Campbell’s Mystery Hour is presented by The Bellingham based “live radio” Midnight Mystery Players, which returns to Orcas Center after their last popular appearance in August 2009. They will perform “Too Many Clues” and “My Name is Herbert” on August 6th at 7:30 p.m.
Orcas musicians, Steve Alboucq and Ron Myer and singer, KT Laslo are part of this “broadcast.”
The Midnight Mystery Players were founded in December 2004 to provide radio drama programming for KMRE-LP, 102.3 FM, a low-power station which began broadcasting in 2005 from the American Museum of Radio and Electricity in Bellingham, Washington.
The Midnight Mystery Players regularly record in the studios of KMRE, but also perform in front of live audiences in the auditorium of the American Museum of Radio and Electricity.
Each week KMRE broadcasts a story dramatized by the Midnight Mystery Players. Some are comedies, such as My Favorite Wife, or The Reformer and the Redhead; some are dramas, such as At Midnight on the 31st of March or The Tenth Planet; and there are mysteries, tales of suspense and thrillers, as well, such as The Thin Man, Cabin B-13 and Tales of Arch Oboler. In addition to re-creating the fabulous radio programs of the past, the MMP also bring to life classical tales of the theater, and new, locally created works as well.
All tickets are $10. Tickets may be purchased on the website or by calling or visiting the Orcas Center box office during box office hours which are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon- 4 pm. For more information about Orcas Center 2011 season events, please visit www.orcascenter.org.
