Sunday, June 25, 4 – 6 p.m., Orcas Public School Cafeteria

— from Gretchen Krampf for Orcas Women’s Coalition —

Orcas Women’s Coalition (OWC) is a vibrant, energetic network of women and transgender people on Orcas Island, working together to create positive change through progressive reform. We believe in social justice, a healthy environment, healthcare for all, and upholding the Constitution. We make activism fun.

We’re hosting our quarterly meeting on Sunday, Jun. 25 from 4-6 p.m. at the Orcas Public School Cafeteria. Feel free to arrive before 4 p.m. for social networking and light refreshments. The meeting begins promptly at 4 p.m. with Opening Exercises, Announcements and Action Team Updates. After a brief break, we continue with presentations by Lisa Byers, Director of OPAL, Orcas’ Community Land Trust, and Anne Bertino, coordinator of our Affordable Housing Action Team, about the challenges and solutions available to meet the housing needs in our community.

Action Teams for Political Action and Civic Engagement (PACE), Environmental Action (EAT), Immigrant Rights and Healthcare have dynamic programs and initiatives underway. Women’s Rights, Indigenous Rights, Education, LGBTQIA and Affordable Housing are Teams in development. We invite island women and transgender people to join us to build strong and impactful support for social justice and inclusion. You can sign up to receive notices and updates at www.orcaswomenscoalition.org.
