From the Orcas Island Prevention Partnership

To Enter: Register at the Funhouse, January 6 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Introducing  “Orcas Has Talent,” the new name for Orcas Idol, which has been the much awaited, most popular community show of the year!

“Orcas Has Talent” shares the same show’s format as “Idol” except it’s not just a singing competition; it’s a talent competition! This new improved show brings the variety show format back to center stage to celebrate all the talents we know Orcas is chock full of in an effort to showcase our best “talent” welcoming singers, musicians, dancers, comedians, jugglers and whatever talent islanders think might win the hearts and votes of the audience —and the grand prize of $200.

The fun begins on the Grange Stage at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd for the Audition Show where three esteemed judges will award the top 10 talented acts their “Golden Ticket” that allows them to compete for the grand prize in the finale show on February 5th at the Orcas Center.  Audition show tickets are $10 at the door.

Talented kids in 5th – 8th grade will be offered an “Orcas Has Talent Jr.” competition to be held on the afternoon of January 22nd at 2 p.m.   The winner will receive fun prizes and the opportunity to perform for the finale show.  Tickets for the Junior show are $10./adult, $5.00/student at door.

Do you have a very special talent? Think you have what it takes to outshine all others? Great!  To enter, simply come to the Funhouse on January 6th from 3 to  6 p.m. to sign up for the Audition show or the Orcas Has Talent Jr. competition.   You can also sign up on line or get more information about the shows at www.orcasprevention.org or contact OIPP coordinator, Marta Nielson at 376-4768.  All talent must register by January 6th.

Like Orcas Idol, the proceeds from the show will benefit the Orcas Island Prevention Partnership, a coalition of 13 community organizations, nonprofits and county agencies, as well as over 100 interested individuals and volunteers that support and provide important prevention programming for youth, adults, and seniors.

“Orcas Has Talent” Finale is on February 5TH 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Orcas Center.

If you want to help us keep this show alive year after to year, we need your help!  You can get involved by becoming a production volunteer or help us financially by becoming an underwriter or a  “Patron For Talent.”  Your donation guarantees you front of the line service when purchasing your tickets and choosing your favorite seats for the finale show.  Look for more details at www.orcasprevention.org.

Tickets for “Orcas Has Talent” Feb. 5th Finale Show are $25./ Adults and $15./ students and will go on sale on January 22nd at the audition shows and at Darvills’ Bookstore.
