— from Orcas Island Public Library —
The Orcas Island Public Library is seeking a new trustee to begin serving a five-year term on January 1, 2018. Review of applications will begin on October 20, 2017.
The board comprises five members who plan the direction of library services, make sure policies are appropriate, and oversee the expenditure of funds. The trustees also have the exciting task of re-envisioning services and resources, having completed Books and Beyond: the Next Chapter, our building expansion project.

Can someone please explain why there is a demonic looking “Totem” statue outside the children’s section of the new library?
Domenic, recently we had an offer of a memorial sculpture, and after discussion the Library Board approved it. Your comment is interesting–we had been thinking that it had a welcoming theme.
