The Orcas Christian School is now accepting application for all grades, Kindergarten through 12th. We encourage parents to visit our school and give OCS the opportunity to provide your students with a quality education experience for the 2014-15 school year. Parents and students are invited to explore our campus and meet our teachers. Please call our office (376-6683) to schedule an enrollment appointment with Tom Roosma, principal. Financial aid and matching funds are available for families who are unable to pay full tuition. Please speak with Tom Roosma regarding those options.
Orcas Christian School offers a technology-rich environment to integrate students into the fast-paced world they will soon be emerging into. Low student/teacher ratios allow for individual attention and personal learning. Academic field trips are also a very important part of OCS. Teachers make the most of learning opportunities in the Pacific Northwest and every trip is packed with authentic and fun education.
Community service and participation is a large part of what makes OCS. We frequently receive feedback from community members about how much they appreciate our students and their actions. Although May Day Flowers and Community Dinners are some of the more well-known activities, students also touch the lives of senior citizens through monthly letters and seasonal cookie deliveries. Our high school students are encouraged to participate in community service projects as well, such as yard maintenance, housekeeping, and other projects.
If sports are a concern for students who would otherwise consider enrollment, there has never been a better time to get involved with OCS team sports! Our basketball team has received professional training over the summer from Chris Hyppa, and is stronger than ever. Volleyball is offered as an exploratory and ramping up for a great season. OCS has a new team bus to get to our off-island games in style. Team sports are an excellent opportunity for fellowship and friendship at Orcas Christian School.
Parents, visit Orcas Christians School’s website at www.oics.org to download an application packet and supply list. Then make an appointment to learn more. The first day of school is September 2nd, and we would love to have your student join our OCS family.
