Orcas Center awarded the 2013 Bunny Award for for “outstanding performance on stage” to Robert Hall and the Margaret Exton Award for “outstanding contributions and service” to Pat Thomas at its Annual Meeting today.

Orcas Center’s Executive/Artistic Director Kara O’Toole chaired the Annual Meeting in the Madrona Room at the Center, before the dinner honoring Orcas Center volunteers.

O’Toole reviewed “the bottom line” of Orcas Center’s 2013 operations: $34,755 in revenue, comprised of 16% program income; 18% individual support; and 36% special events, including the Center’s Gala.

Although the 2013 ending balance showed a deficit of $8,104, the previous year showed a deficit of $18,984, even with a one-time $28,993 draw on the Center’s endowment in 2012.

O’Toole welcomed new board members Barbara Bentley and John Bric, and thanked retiring board members Katie Thomas, Kathleen Tudor, Duffy King, Susan Meadows and Tom Murdock, who has been the board president for the past two years.

She gave a “heads-up” on the new strategic plan process, announcing that there will be an online survey for input into the process.

Before adjourning the meeting, O’Toole showed a variety of upcoming events already on the calendar for this year; and invited performance sponsors for these events, or for a bright idea that may become an event. “Anything is possible,” she said. (See https://orcascenter.org/calendar/season)

O’Toole sent the meeting attendees off, reminding them, “Life is short — see more art.”
