Orcas Food Co-op LogoWe have five days to get 26 members to join the Orcas Food Co-op to meet our end-of-the-year goal of 450 founding members. We’re so close! Would you consider joining today? Your membership equity will help the Co-op get on its feet that much quicker. The Co-op is slated to open in Spring of 2014. There is much to be done, but with the great crew of board members, equity member-owners, volunteers and supporters on hand, we’ll get there!

Members will receive special discounts and sale prices on goods, and free or reduced cost to classes and workshops held at the Co-op. Members may place special orders and buy in bulk quantities. Members may also run for the board, and vote in elections. This is YOUR Co-op, so your voice is important and will be heard. Most importantly, members get their very own food cooperative on their island. A co-op that will support local farmers and food producers by stocking their produce, dairy products, meats, fish, preserves, herbs, nuts, grains, body products and specialty goods for the home. The Co-op will abide by stringent standards regarding the local, organic and non-GMO foods and goods it will offer. It will connect the dots between local farmers, food producers and you!

Membership in the Co-op is for life. $240 covers you, your domestic partner, and any dependents 18 years or younger. Membership can be paid in full, or with monthly installments. You can get started with as little as $10/month. The easiest way to join is online. Just click BECOME A MEMBER, and join today! You may also send us a check to: PO Box 913, Eastsound, WA, 98245. Once we receive your payment (and remember, just $10 can get you started), you’re membership is activated. Simple as that! Membership applications are available at Pawki’s and the Orcas Library, but you don’t need to send one with your initial payment. Once we receive your check, we can send you an application via the post. Time is of the essence – if you’ve been waiting for that perfect moment to join…now’s the time!

If you have any questions about membership, feel free to visit our website, drop me an email, or give me a call at 317-8488. I believe in this Co-op. I believe in this island. And I believe in you!

Happy Holidays…and may 2014 bring abundant blessings to Orcas Island.
