stanley steamerThis year’s live auction to benefit the Orcas Islands Historical Museums has a new starting time. We will begin the love portion of our annual fundraising auction an hour earlier this Saturday, September 3, on the Village Green. The auction schedule is:

  • 10:00 – The silent auction begins.
  • 11:00 – The live auction will begins.
  • Noon – Martin Lund takes the stage to entertain with jazzy music.
  • 1:00 – The live auction resumes
  • 2:00(ish) – The live auctions ends.
  • 2:30 – The silent auction ends

We have lots of fun and fabulous items to be auctioned off this year including a South Africa Photo Safari for 2. The lucky winner will be a guest on the Zulu Nyala Game Reserve for 6 days and nights and will have the chance to see elephants, rhinos, leopards, giraffes, hippos, zebras, and many other plains game. This dream package includes all meals and twice daily guided trips in the reserve with an experienced guide in a Land Rover. Airfare must be arranged by the purchaser. he gravel auction is always a popular part of the live auction and this year we have 4 donors who have each donated a load of gravel to be auctioned off. His honor, Mayor Lewis, has agreed to hve a lunch date with a winning bidder.

Opportunities for fun and adventure to be auctioned include whale watching trips, fishing charters, horseback riding lessons, sailing in a classic wooden boat, touring the island in the 1912 Stanley Steamer and roundtrip Kenmore Air flights to Seattle. There are plenty of gift certificates for meals, services and merchandise from local businesses and restaurants.

So plan to come early, bid often and join in the fun. All proceeds go to to support the operations of the Pioneer Museum and the Crow Valley School Museum and help us to keep Orcas History Alive.
